Name Of Organization : Independent Iraqi Woman Organization

This organization was founded in Baghdad on the 25 th of May 2003 by Iraqi women and have branches in Erbil ,Sulaymaniyah and Karbala .

It is a civil society non governmental organization .

Goals Of Organization :

•  Building up a social education for Iraqi women .

•  Eliminating all sorts of discrimination against women .

•  Acquiring & giving expertness which lead to peace & security, lessen clashes , conflict resolution & peace building .

•  Capacity building .

•  Looking after maternity socially, economically and hygienically and focusing care on Iraqi children.

•  Contacting with organizations which care for women affairs and children and developing them.

•  Giving opportunity for women to participate in economical rehabilitation & giving them a chance to get a suitable job .

•  Supporting women, child & human rights culture .

•  Widespread love &peace culture & rejecting violence .

•  Fighting all sorts of violence against women .

•  Widespread political & cultural awareness .

• Aware women about proper participation in election & drafting a constitution & voting .

•  Taking care of handicapped & paralyzed women .

Organization activities

•  The organization had received many trainings inside & outside the country . Such as capacity building , conflict resolution , negotiation , organization management , resources development & other trainings by international & local organizations .

•  Holding four successful conferences to bring together women to discuss important social issues such as unemployment & women & education .

•  Participation in many conferences , meetings & training courses in Baghdad ,governorates and abroad .

•  Holding cultural & hygienic meetings in many areas in Baghdad specially public areas .

•  Designing & publishing folders about hygiene ,environment ,culture & politics .

•  Construction of rehabilitation and education centre for women in Alsadder city .200 women graduated .

•  Conducting projects using art to express political themes . These projects had great impact on audience . Discussion rounds held about ideas of the posters such as human rights , violence against women , conflict resolution , constitution & elections .

•  Member of National Women Coalition In Iraq .

•  Leading advocacy campaigns concerning women issues .
